Welcome! I’m Brandi, the artist behind Passementarie Photography. I have a deep passion for play. I love dressing up like fairies, tap dance in my kitchen and singing to my dog in a really high voice until he howls. Play, like a smile, is an universal language. You don’t have to speak the same language as someone to play with them. You don’t even have to be the same age or the same species! Photography is play for me. I create whimsical and imaginative images because of my love for play. I love the stories that you can tell when you combine photography and play. I believe it is through play that we can glimpse the sacredness of childhood and the connectedness of families, and those are my favorite stories to tell. My goal is to capture the wonder of your child’s age just as they are now and to really honor who they are as a person. By doing this I am able to give you timeless images that you will treasure for many years to come.
Now, you may be asking what is up with my business name? What is a Passementarie and how do you pronounce it? Well you can find the proper definition and pronunciation here. A passementarie is a piece of decorative trim. First I love crafting and sewing and the little passementaries are my favorite part, especially if they are vintage. Second I try to remind myself to take time out of my day for trim moments. Get down on the floor and play with the kids, not just clean it. Take myself out and have fun with my husband. Read to the kids. These are the trim moments of life that make life worth living and I have such reverence for them. They are actually my favorite moments to photograph.
