Even big girls want to be fairies, or forest girls, or princesses. As our kids hit the tween years sometimes they seem more adult then kids. They believe imaginary play is just a bit silly, something for babies. But yet they still like the idea of dressing up and become someone else. A fairy, a princess or a super hero. As they cross this bridge from child to teen some times it is hard to pause time and capture that imagination that is still present. My magic trick to stop time? Pretty dresses, a cape, a flower crown. When I was about 12 I dressed in a Little House on the Prairie dress and imagined myself back in time and begged my mom to just used candles instead of electricity. Those old fashioned photo places at the amusement park were the best to me. At 12 I still imagined myself as a pioneer girl, as a greek goddess and as a Egyptian queen. (Not going to lie, I still imagine myself as those things).
The tween years are the perfect time to capture those last glimpses of childhood. To capture your child’s creativity and imagination while they will still let you. Capture your tween as a fairy or a half deer/half girl, or princess one last time before adulthood can be seen down the tunnel. I would love to help you capture this whimsical time in your child’s life. Feel free to contact me to schedule your session today.
